Playtech Expands Poker Presence in France with PMU Partnership

PMU is now part of the iPoker.EU network, giving its players access to Playtech’s advanced poker platform, gamification tools, and engagement features.
This isn’t Playtech’s first major move in France. They already teamed up with La Française des Jeux (FDJ) last year, so they’re clearly doubling down on the French poker market. Their VP, Marat Koss, called France a “key market,” and honestly, it makes sense—poker is huge there.
On PMU’s side, Stéphane Auffret sees this as a big step for growth, especially in their Turf and Sports Applications. I’m curious to see if this will shake up the poker scene in France, considering the competition from Winamax and PokerStars. Do you guys think Playtech can carve out a bigger share in France, or will the local giants stay dominant?

Playtech calling France a ‘key market’ makes sense, but I’m not sure PMU joining iPoker.EU will make that big of a splash. Winamax and PokerStars have too much brand loyalty. Unless Playtech offers something truly unique, this might just be a minor shake-up rather than a major shift.

I dunno, I think people are sleeping on how big this could get. PMU already has a solid user base from their horse betting and sports side — if Playtech brings smoother software and better promos, that might be enough to pull casuals from Winamax. Not saying they’ll knock out the big names, but they could grab a decent slice of the pie, especially if they start doing cross-promos between poker and their Turf section. France loves that kind of integration.

Interesting move. PMU joining iPoker.EU could actually give Playtech a real shot in France. They’ve already laid some groundwork with FDJ. Gamification tools might lure in the casuals who are tired of the same old formats.

Winamax basically owns France when it comes to poker
They’ve got the brand loyalty and a massive player base
PMU will need more than flashy tools to compete at that level
