Dutch Gambling Regulator Criticizes Operators Over Affordability Checks

Since October 2024, gambling sites in the Netherlands have been required to verify players’ income before raising deposit limits, but many are falling short.
Some operators accepted questionable proof, like self-reported statements or tax refunds, instead of official pay slips. Others wrongly counted loans, inheritances, and savings as valid income sources. Worse, some failed to block players exceeding the €700 monthly deposit limit (or €300 for those under 25). The KSA has now summoned these operators, making it clear that deposit limits must be strictly enforced.
On the positive side, some companies are leading by example — refusing to let young adults raise their limits even with proof of income and setting stricter deposit caps beyond what’s legally required. The KSA expects all operators to follow suit to ensure responsible gambling.
It’s good to see regulators taking action, but it’s concerning that some companies still prioritize profits over player protection.

It's about time the KSA stepped in! 🤨 Operators should be more responsible. How can you trust a gambling site that doesn’t even check real income? It just feels sketchy.

Totally agree, Williams! If they can't even enforce basic rules, how can we trust them to protect players?
