Dutch Regulator Imposes €1.3 Million Fine on Winning Poker Network

The Dutch gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has fined Winning Poker Network (WPN) €1.3 million for illegally offering online poker in the Netherlands. The penalty follows an investigation revealing that WPN-operated sites, including AmericasCardroom.eu, allowed Dutch players to register, deposit funds, and play poker without a valid license.
The regulator first flagged WPN in 2022, finding multiple affiliated sites—TruePoker, BlackChipPoker, and PokerKing—still operating despite warnings. By early 2023, some platforms had withdrawn, but others continued to offer poker, sports betting, and casino games, prompting KSA to escalate enforcement.
Initially set at €600,000, the fine was doubled due to repeated violations. KSA chairman Michel Groothuizen emphasized that financial penalties are essential to deterring illegal operators, ensuring they face real consequences for non-compliance.

Right? It’s wild. You’d think after the first warning, they’d chill out. Seems like they just kept pushing it.
Totally! But honestly, how many players even knew they were breaking the law? I get it, rules are rules, but a lot of peeps just want to play.
