Illegal Banking Practices

I’m a compulsive gambler registered with GAMSTOP, but I still ended up gambling on MyStake, FreshBet, and GoldenBet (Santeda International). Over Nov 2023 – April 2024, I lost £90,000, including stolen money, and now have a CAT6 CIFAS marker and a closed bank account.

I tried chargebacks — denied. I asked MyStake to close my account, they confirmed, then reopened it without consent. Even CasinoGuru rejected my claim. Now I’m filing a complaint with the FOS, but doubt they’ll help since Santeda is offshore.

Shady Transactions:

75% of my deposits went to Santeda International
The rest through TransferOp, Ryker Development, and Falcora Finance
Processed via Noda WL Pay, a UK-registered FCA-licensed company
Payments routed through Modulr FS, ClearBank, an FX exchange, and even a personal account
This raises huge legal questions — how are UK-licensed financial institutions processing payments for an offshore, unregulated casino?

I’m requesting a credit report and looking into ways to report and restrict these sites in the UK. If anyone has FCA/banking expertise, any advice would be appreciated

Wow, that’s a rough situation. How did you even get linked to those sites after registering with GAMSTOP? Seems like a massive loophole

It’s like GAMSTOP is just a suggestion. I mean, if they're reopening your account without permission, that’s straight-up illegal. Have you considered contacting the police?

Really? That’s a bit extreme. But I get your point about the shady practices. Those offshore casinos are practically untouchable. Have you tried reaching out to consumer protection agencies?

Good idea! The FOS might not be much help if Santeda’s offshore, but I’d still report them. Maybe they can at least flag them for future cases

best bet might be to talk to a lawyer who knows about gambling laws. This seems like more than just bad luck; there’s potential fraud here

Yeah, a lawyer could help you navigate this mess. But also, you gotta look into those payment processors. They’re playing a risky game too, and it sounds like they’re in deep with those casinos

keep an eye on your credit report! If you’ve got a CIFAS marker, that’s serious. You might need to explain all this when applying for any credit in the future
