These regulations require operators to implement deposit limits and enhance consumer protection, effective October 31, 2025. These rules aim to give players greater control over their spending while ensuring transparency in financial policies. Operators must allow first-time depositors to review and adjust their deposit limits easily. Additionally, every six months, players will receive reminders to reassess their account activity, deposits, and transactions to encourage responsible gambling.
The commission will also launch a consultation to evaluate how these changes affect consumers and their financial security. As part of the revised License Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), gambling operators must disclose whether player funds are protected in the event of insolvency. The level of protection must be clearly stated before a player makes their first deposit, categorized as either no protection, segregated funds with no guarantees, medium protection, or high protection. Operators that do not protect player funds must explicitly inform consumers and provide regular reminders.
