Following President Donald Trump’s visit to Las Vegas, gaming industry leaders are hopeful that his administration will push for online casino legalization across more U.S. states. During his visit to Circa Resort & Casino, Trump engaged with players on the casino floor, reinforcing expectations that his administration may prioritize gaming industry reforms.
The American Gaming Association (AGA) welcomed Trump’s visit, with CEO Bill Miller emphasizing the President’s historical support for the industry, citing the federal economic relief provided during COVID-19 shutdowns. Industry leaders are advocating for tax reforms, including the removal of the federal sports betting excise tax and an increase in the slot tax threshold.
Currently, only seven states allow online casino gaming, compared to nearly 40 that have legalized online sports betting. Indiana, New York, and Wyoming are among the states expected to push for legalization in 2025. While gambling laws remain state-controlled, industry experts believe Trump’s presence in the White House could influence red states to embrace iGaming. Supporters of online casino expansion see Trump’s casino industry background as a potential advantage in advancing regulatory changes, hoping for a broader national acceptance of legalized iGaming.

If this means more states finally legalizing online casinos, I’m all for it! Sports betting took off fast, so why not iGaming? It’s about time players everywhere had access to legal, regulated platforms.
