888 Casino Self-Exclusion Issue and Deposit

Hey everyone, I used to play at William Hill until I hit a pretty rough patch a few months ago, and ended up self-excluding myself. That was years ago, but recently I opened an account with 888 Casino and took their deposit offer. However, halfway through playing, I got logged out, and now my account’s blocked. I received an email from something like 777.com (I think?) saying I can’t have an account with 888 because of my self-exclusion from William Hill.
So, here’s my problem: I still have $107 in bonus funds sitting there. I had no idea that 888 and William Hill were linked in any way. Am I ever going to get my deposit back? If I’m technically self-excluded from the brand, I wasn’t aware of it. Surely, they can’t just take my money

They’re both under the same parent company now — 888 Holdings bought William Hill UK. So yeah, if you self-excluded from William Hill, it technically applies across the board. Still, they should’ve blocked your registration from the start. If they let you deposit and play, that’s on them. You absolutely have the right to demand your money back

Same thing happened to me with Mr Green and William Hill. Self-exclusion applied across sites and they only told me after I deposited and won something. Took a complaint through eCOGRA to get my deposit back. Took a few weeks, but it worked

If they knew, they should’ve blocked the signup, not take the money

You’re not the first person this has happened to. these big companies merge, share self-exclusion lists, and don’t bother informing players properly.
They let you deposit, play, trigger bonuses, and then slam the door in your face... total BS.
File a formal complaint with 888’s licensing body (Gibraltar or UKGC depending on your region). And take screenshots of everything. They’ll likely refund the deposit, but you’ll probably lose the bonus funds

Didn’t know they were linked now, but yeah that does make sense — still, they should’ve made that clear before I dropped any funds. If they don’t respond soon, I’m 100% gonna start filing a complaint

I had to email 888 support three times before they even acknowledged I was owed a refund. Just keep pushing, don’t let them ghost you.

The fact that they send you an offer, take your money, then block you mid-session is a horrible look. I get the self-exclusion rules, but they’re still responsible for preventing play.
If they allowed it, that’s their violation. File a complaint through Resolver or AskGamblers. Public pressure usually gets things moving faster than waiting on their support team

Also check if you got charged for the deposit itself. I once lost the processing fee during something similar

It’s a gray area legally, but ethically they shouldn’t keep a dime. If you were excluded, they should’ve stopped you at login. They can’t just “find out” halfway through and pretend it’s your fault. Push for at least the $107 refund
